Eau de Cologne Pour le Bain was apparently sold exclusively to Guerlain employees only. It was certainly made with all natural extracts. Guerlain has reconnected with one of its old traditions by proposing " Eau de Cologne for the Bath " also known as " Bottle Cologne ". This is the unique name for an elegant and luxurious bottle of almost half a liter. At the origin of the house and until the 80s, this special vintage cologne was reserved for staff. A privilege for employees who could buy it at a friend's price.
As its name suggests, this Eau de Cologne was produced with the remains of the vats containing Guerlain perfumes. Employees rinsed the vats with alcohol before reuse for another maceration. The product of this rinsing was of a variable concentration and quite close to that of the Eau de Cologne. While it was unmarketable, the resulting solution was a delicious but random fragrance, depending on the contents of the tank and the perfume that had macerated.
